Camp Spaulding

The mission of Camp Spalding and Clearwater Lodge is to provide meaningful Christian programming in an exceptional natural setting where – apart from the daily routine – people of all ages may encounter Jesus Christ and grow deeper in their relationship with Him.

Our mission committee faithfully supports the ministry of Camp Spalding each month, believing in the impact that the ministry has on the lives of children, youth and adults here at Colbert Presbyterian and beyond.

Camp Spaulding campers

Camp Spaulding campersEach summer approximately 50 children and youth from Colbert attended Camp Spalding. Students participate in various camp sessions – from Mom/Dad/Me overnight for the little ones, to week-long sessions including elementary, middle school, high school or leadership camp. Campers enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding, rock climbing, ropes courses, crafts, crazy games, as well as worship, hearing from a relevant speaker, small group conversations and times of solitude. Each element of the programming is designed with the ultimate goal of impacting lives for Jesus Christ.

There are also opportunities for involvement beyond high school. Colbert has also had students participate in the summer-long Compass Program for high school graduates, providing theological training, service opportunities, rich community & nine weeks designed to help students transition to life after graduation. A number of young adults from our community have also served on summer staff at Camp Spalding, working at camp all summer in roles such as lifeguards, adventure staff, worship leaders, counselors & more.

Adults from our congregation have participated in the Clearwater Lodge retreats, put on each year by the lodge staff. Most recently 40+ women from Colbert enjoyed a retreat weekend together – another opportunity to grow deeper in faith and in relationship to one another.
